Stay away from Opioids!

In West St. Paul, Minnesota, There was a charge of third degree murder against a 17 year old boy. Prosecutors petitioned the court to charge him as an adult for his supposed role in the death of a 15 year old girl caused by an opioid overdose. Court documents state that the two of them had met up outside of Walgreens pharmacy on the evening of April 20th. The boy texted her later saying “only take like less than a quarter” a pill and another text asking her if the pills “were hitting?” She didn't receive both of these texts and was later found by her mother face down with a pill next to her. Her mom attempted to do CPR, but there was no response. A toxicology report revealed fentanyl in the girl’s blood. This incident shows how teens can be influenced and this is why we must raise awareness of teen drug abuse at all times. Minnesota commissioner of Health Jan Malcolm said “One important step is to expand programs that make it easier for people to access naloxone – a medication that can reverse overdoses and save lives."
